Finance Lead

About the role

Level Nine is seeking a Finance Lead to join its interdisciplinary team in Berlin. The role is mission‑critical for scaling the AI‑driven catalyst discovery platform and will partner closely with the CEO and business development team to align financial strategy with rapid scientific innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Own daily financial operations, including accounting, bookkeeping, payroll coordination, invoice processing, payments, cash‑flow management and budgeting.
• Identify and implement AI‑based automation for routine finance tasks, creating smart workflows that reduce manual effort.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation to ensure continuous legal and fiscal compliance and audit readiness.
• Manage vendor relationships, purchasing processes and overall risk portfolio, proactively flagging business risks.
• Build and maintain complex financial models, conduct scenario planning, evaluate equity‑debt structures and support techno‑economic analyses for scaling projects.
• Collaborate with commercial and business‑development teams to stress‑test deals and ensure alignment with long‑term financial objectives.
• Prepare strategic financial reports for the CEO and investors, translating numbers into a clear business narrative.
• Support fundraising activities by providing robust financial data and analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a finance professional in a fast‑growing, technology‑focused environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to build and interpret detailed financial models.
• Comfort with automation tools and a proactive approach to improving finance processes.
• Excellent understanding of risk management, compliance and investor reporting.
