Financial Accountant (German GAAP, Insurance)

About the role

Wrisk Europe GmbH, the German subsidiary of the UK‑based insurtech leader Wrisk, is looking for a Financial Accountant to lead its finance and accounting function in Munich. You will be the primary point of contact for all local financial operations, working closely with the Group Finance team in the UK while shaping processes as the business expands across the EU.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month‑end close, cash‑flow management and financial reporting under German GAAP (HGB) and coordinate group reporting.
• Manage insurer payments and the full bordereaux process together with the data and Group Finance teams.
• Partner with external advisors to ensure compliance with German tax obligations (VAT, corporation tax, transfer pricing) and oversee local payroll.
• Handle day‑to‑day finance administration, including supplier payments, invoice posting and employee expenses, and produce cash‑flow forecasts.
• Maintain robust financial controls, support statutory and insurer audits, and provide evidence as required.
• Prepare and monitor financial KPIs and management information to inform commercial decisions.

Required profile

• Degree or professional qualification in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Solid experience in an MGA, insurance broker or insurer environment, with knowledge of bordereaux, premium collections and insurer payments.
• Proven expertise in German GAAP (HGB) accounting and statutory reporting.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently as the sole local finance representative.
• Professional fluency in English; German language not required but beneficial.
