Financial Controller – Europe

About the role

We are looking for a Financial Controller – Europe to lead financial management, reporting and compliance across our London divisions (VFX, Animation, Immersive), Trixter in Germany and the London Head Office. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will build and manage a regional finance team while driving performance during a period of restructuring.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day financial management, core accounting, month‑end close and statutory reporting for all European entities.
• Review and sign off monthly management accounts, prepare board packs and variance analysis for senior stakeholders.
• Partner with Commercial Finance to develop, manage and re‑forecast overhead budgets, CAPEX, payroll and equipment spend.
• Lead the annual statutory audit process and ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP and German HGB.
• Project‑manage the transition of European payroll and recruit a Euro Management Accountant.
• Establish standardized month‑end deadlines, accounting policies and workflows across entities.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with post‑qualification experience.
• Fluent in English and German (written and spoken).
• Proven experience managing a small finance team in a multi‑entity or divisional environment.
• Player‑coach mindset: hands‑on with data entry now and strategic leadership as the team grows.
• Strong knowledge of UK and German accounting/tax frameworks (IFRS, UK GAAP, HGB).
