Fire Safety Expert – Timber Building Design

About the role

GROPYUS is seeking a Fire Safety Expert to lead fire safety design and product development for timber residential buildings (class 4 and 5). You will shape innovative safety solutions, work closely with multidisciplinary teams, and influence fire safety regulations in Germany.

Key responsibilities

• Design fire safety concepts and develop products for timber buildings in class 4 and 5.
• Implement state‑of‑the‑art fire safety solutions and manage continuous product evolution.
• Coordinate with architecture, engineering, MEP, building physics, acoustics, and energy design teams.
• Support short‑ and long‑term certification strategies for the building product.
• Plan and oversee physical fire tests in the GROPYUS prototyping centre and with external institutes.
• Communicate with external consultants, authorities, and testing institutes.
• Participate in public discussions to advance fire safety regulations in Germany.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of German and/or Austrian fire safety regulations and codes.
• Project experience at LP5+ stage in Germany or Austria.
• Background in timber construction and residential buildings (class 4/5) is a plus.
• Experience with product certification processes is a plus.
• Fluent in English and German.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Rhino.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
