Founding Engineer

About the role

Fastalyze is building AI‑native software for freight forwarders and is looking for a founding engineer to join the three‑person tech team in Berlin. You will own end‑to‑end features, work closely with the founders and help shape a product that modernises container shipping.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain the core shipping platform, including frontend, backend and computational engine.
• Take ownership of one of three focus areas – frontend, backend, or document‑ingestion – while collaborating across the stack.
• Write production‑grade code, create automated tests and provide ongoing support for shipped features.
• Iterate quickly on product ideas, contribute to architectural decisions and help scale the system as new business lines are added.
• Occasionally assist in the other layers (e.g., frontend work for a backend‑focused engineer) to ensure seamless integration.

Required profile

• Self‑motivated engineer who enjoys owning complete features rather than only implementing tickets.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑moving startup environment and eager to learn new domains.
• Open‑minded about non‑traditional career paths; strong problem‑solving mindset is essential.

Required skills

• React and TypeScript for frontend development.
• FastAPI and Python for backend services.
• Go for computational components.
• PostgreSQL for data storage.
• AWS for hosting and deployment.
• Experience with document processing, model fine‑tuning or PDF data extraction is a plus.
