Full Professor – International Security & Strategic Studies

About the role

Leuphana University of Lüneburg invites applications for a W3 full professorship in International Security and Strategic Studies. The position is anchored in the Institute of Political Science and will help shape the newly created Leuphana Centre for Cooperative Security (LCCS).

Key responsibilities

• Represent the field of International Security and Strategic Studies in research, teaching and public engagement.
• Contribute to the establishment, strategic direction and leadership of the LCCS.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise theses and mentor junior scholars.
• Conduct high‑impact research on European and global security, defence policy, arms control and emerging forms of warfare.
• Produce policy‑relevant recommendations for governments, businesses and civil society.

Required profile

• Outstanding international research record in international security, strategic studies or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to secure external funding and publish in leading peer‑reviewed outlets.
• Experience with European security issues, transatlantic relations and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and to fostering democratic and societal resilience.
