Full Professorship in Sustainability, Knowledge and Society (W2/W3)

About the role

Leuphana University of Lüneburg invites applications for a full professorship (W2/W3) in Sustainability, Knowledge and Society. The position is part of the School of Sustainability and aims to strengthen research and teaching on sustainability transformations, knowledge production, and co‑creation processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an innovative research programme on knowledge systems and sustainability transformations.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in sustainability science, knowledge co‑creation, and related topics.
• Supervise doctoral candidates and mentor junior scholars.
• Secure third‑party funding from national and international sources (e.g., DFG, ERC, Horizon Europe).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners inside and outside the university.

Required profile

• Outstanding internationally visible research record in sustainability science or related fields.
• Demonstrated expertise in epistemology, methodology, and knowledge co‑creation for sustainable development.
• Strong publication record in high‑impact peer‑reviewed journals.
• Experience in obtaining competitive research funding.
• Ability to articulate a clear vision for future research directions.
