Full Stack Engineer – Innovation Team (Remote, Germany)

About the role

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join the Innovation Team of Matomo, an open‑source privacy‑first analytics platform. You will work remotely from anywhere in Germany, collaborating directly with the CTO and senior engineers to turn prototype ideas into production‑ready features that become part of Matomo’s core.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype and deliver new backend (PHP) and frontend (JavaScript) functionalities that extend Matomo’s analytics capabilities.
• Explore and validate innovative product concepts, including AI‑driven insights, visualisations and integrations.
• Write automated tests, review code and produce clear technical documentation.
• Identify security considerations and ensure secure implementation throughout the development lifecycle.
• Operate autonomously in a small team, removing blockers and escalating when necessary.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of professional experience in backend development with PHP.
• Strong competence in JavaScript for frontend development.
• Ability to work independently, manage end‑to‑end delivery and balance speed with quality.
• Interest in privacy‑first analytics and open‑source ecosystems.
