General Counsel – Renewable Energy

About the role

The General Counsel will lead the legal function of a fast‑growing clean‑energy company operating across multiple renewable‑energy markets. Reporting to the executive leadership team, you will provide strategic, commercially focused legal advice to support project development, financing, trading and long‑term agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the in‑house legal team across several jurisdictions.
• Advise senior leadership on strategic legal and commercial matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Support renewable‑energy project development, construction and operations.
• Provide guidance on corporate governance, regulatory compliance and risk management.
• Oversee external counsel, manage legal budgets and ensure cost‑effective service delivery.
• Assist with M&A transactions, project acquisitions and financing activities.
• Develop and improve legal processes, governance and compliance frameworks.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in Germany.
• Significant in‑house legal experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities or a comparable project‑based industry.
• Strong background in negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements.
• Deep knowledge of renewable‑energy projects, EPC, O&M, project development, land, financing and corporate matters.
• Commercially minded with excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Fluent in German and English.
