GNC/Autopilot Engineering Manager

About the role

We are looking for a GNC/Autopilot Engineering Manager to lead the development of the flight‑control and navigation stack for our autonomous platforms. You will own the end‑to‑end guidance, navigation and control (GNC) solution, ensuring it operates reliably in contested environments while building and mentoring a high‑performing engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and expand a team of engineers focused on flight control, guidance and state estimation.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for the autopilot stack, including control theory (PID/LQR/MPC), sensor‑fusion architecture and real‑time performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, perception and systems teams to guarantee end‑to‑end navigation performance.
• Introduce software‑engineering best practices such as the C4 architecture model, clean‑code principles and design patterns.
• Oversee peer‑review processes, knowledge sharing and cross‑level mentorship.
• Drive hiring, career development and team culture.
• Report technical risk, schedule and capacity to senior leadership.
• Lead test and validation strategy from simulation and HIL testing to live flight trials.

Required profile

• 7+ years of robotics software engineering experience in GNC.
• 3+ years in a leadership role with direct people‑management responsibility.
• Proven track record of delivering robotics software to production.
• Strong knowledge of guidance, navigation and control concepts.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
