Guest Professor of Data Science

About the role

We are seeking a Guest Professor of Data Science to join the Business Faculty in Potsdam on a full‑time or part‑time basis starting 1 June 2026. The successful candidate will deliver both introductory and advanced modules, bridge theory with industry practice, and contribute to a vibrant, international learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and develop courses in Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing.
• Design and lead interdisciplinary research and development projects.
• Advise, mentor and supervise bachelor and master theses, seminars and student projects.
• Grade student work and ensure high academic and didactic standards.
• Establish and nurture industry collaborations and partnerships.
• Participate in university administration, committees and contribute to the success of the institution.
• Help design new study programmes and continuously improve existing curricula.
• Support prospective student outreach and recruitment activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, with a doctorate and a strong publication record preferred.
• At least three years of qualified professional experience, including two years outside academia.
• Demonstrated ability to teach in English; German language skills are an advantage.
• National and international work experience.
• Commitment to applied research, student engagement and curriculum innovation.
