Image Processing Engineer – Medical Devices

About the role

Alcon is seeking an Image Processing Engineer to join its R&D team at the Teltow site. You will work on real‑time medical data processing for ophthalmic devices, developing both native and web‑based software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise real‑time image‑processing algorithms for cutting‑edge ophthalmology products.
• Design, implement and test software components in C/C++ and Python/Matlab for native and web applications.
• Produce detailed technical specifications, architecture documents and maintain high‑quality documentation.
• Build and validate prototypes, conduct module testing and bring final products to market.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on data mining, visualisation and performance‑critical code.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Physics.
• Strong background in computer vision, image processing and analysis using Python or Matlab.
• Proven experience designing modular, testable software and working with safety‑critical algorithms.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
