Interior Designer – Lighting & UX for Automotive Interiors

About the role

Tesla is seeking a senior interior designer to shape the lighting, user experience and overall cabin aesthetics of future autonomous vehicles. You will work on end‑to‑end interior design, from concept sketches through prototype validation and supplier collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute world‑class interior cabin themes that align with vehicle styling intent and regulatory requirements.
• Lead concept definition during the industrial design phase and drive iterative design refinements.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, low‑voltage electronics, manufacturing and supply‑chain teams to ensure technical feasibility.
• Direct supplier engineering efforts and manage the integration of interior lighting, switches and UX elements.
• Maintain product design roadmaps across multiple programs, balancing form, function, performance and cost.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive or Transportation Design, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of production automotive design experience, with a portfolio of completed premium‑car programs.
• Strong knowledge of prototyping, manufacturing and assembly processes for automotive interiors.
• Excellent visual and oral communication skills and ability to manage multiple parallel projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Alias for 3D modeling and translation of 2D sketches to 3D.
• Experience with interior lighting design and low‑voltage electronic integration.
