Junior Communications Manager – Startup & Defense

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Communications Manager to support our Director of Communications. You will work in a fast‑moving startup at the intersection of technology and security, handling both external media outreach and internal messaging.

Key responsibilities

• Create and edit content for press releases, social media, presentations, and website copy in German and English.
• Support internal communications by preparing updates, coordinating cross‑team messaging, and maintaining internal formats.
• Assist with institutional communication and stakeholder outreach to government agencies, defence ministries, NATO and EU institutions.
• Help plan and execute trade fairs, conferences and industry events.
• Manage and grow our LinkedIn presence and engage with defence‑tech communities.
• Research and analyse political, funding and media developments relevant to defence and security.

Required profile

• Completed degree in communications, political science, international relations, journalism or a related field.
• Initial experience in media or press work, such as building contacts, preparing interviews or drafting press releases.
• Strong written communication skills in German and English.
• Structured, independent working style with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Genuine interest in defence, technology and security policy.
• Discretion when handling confidential information.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Canva.
• Proficient use of Adobe Suite (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
