Junior Risk Operations Analyst

About the role

Mondu, a fast‑growing B2B payments provider operating across 30+ European markets, is looking for a Junior Risk Operations Analyst to join its Risk Management team in Berlin. You will help safeguard the company’s financial stability by assessing credit risk for merchants and buyers, turning data‑driven insights into actionable product improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the creditworthiness of merchants and platform buyers through daily decisioning processes.
• Support internal and external stakeholders with ad‑hoc commercial queries.
• Extract and analyse large datasets using SQL and Python/R to identify borrower behaviour trends and macro‑economic shifts.
• Lead strategic decisioning for high‑value transactions.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to refine underwriting policies and scorecards that balance conversion and risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics or Data Science.
• At least one year of experience (including internships) in a credit or financial analyst role.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to support commercial teams with fast‑moving queries.
• Comfortable managing repetitive, routine tasks while maintaining an inquisitive mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for stakeholder interaction.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SQL for querying large databases.
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools, preferably Metabase.
• Foundational knowledge of Python or R for data manipulation.
