Legal Harness Engineer

About the role

As a Legal Harness Engineer you will join a Berlin‑based commercial law firm that blends deep legal expertise with cutting‑edge machine‑learning technology. Working hybrid, you will co‑design, build and maintain the firm’s operating system, focusing on self‑improving harness and scaffolding components that automate and optimise legal processes.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design and implement recursive, self‑learning harness and scaffolding modules for the firm’s internal operating system.
• Maintain and continuously improve these modules based on performance data and user feedback.
• Collaborate with senior lawyers and cross‑functional teams to translate legal workflows into automated solutions.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strong foundation in machine learning, large language models (LLMs) and self‑improving system design.
• Experience in legal operations, process design, workflow engineering or similar roles within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Comfort with digital tools such as document management systems, contract‑automation platforms and collaboration software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; German is a plus.
• Highly organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple stakeholders.
