Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Planet’s New Product Introduction (NPI) team in Berlin is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to support the assembly, integration and test of next‑generation imaging satellites. The role combines hands‑on building of complex hardware with the development of scalable manufacturing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the assembly, integration and test of satellites and subsystems.
• Develop and document assembly procedures and work instructions.
• Design mechanical and electrical equipment, fixtures and tools to aid assembly and testing.
• Drive non‑conformances to resolution and propose process improvements.
• Recommend facilities and capital equipment upgrades to meet production demand.
• Train production technicians and transition lines from R&D to production.
• Provide DFM/DFA feedback to design teams.
• Monitor production metrics, identify gaps and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• 4+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions.
• Strong collaboration with design, test and cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Mechanical design of equipment and fixtures.
• Electrical design for assembly tooling.
• Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) methodologies.
• Production metrics analysis and continuous improvement.
