Master Thesis – Airframe Fatigue Analysis (Multiaxial Criteria)

About the role

Airbus Operations is looking for a motivated Master’s student to join the R&T NSDW Integration team in Hamburg (Finkenwerder). The six‑month thesis will focus on exploring the domain of validity for multiaxial fatigue analysis criteria applied to aircraft structures.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate fatigue criteria using high‑fidelity 3D finite element simulations.
• Develop Python scripts to process simulation data and assess the limits of new multiaxial methods.
• Collaborate closely with the structural analysis team and document findings for potential integration into Airbus sizing procedures.
• Present results in weekly team meetings and contribute to internal reports.

Required profile

• Enrolled full‑time Master’s student in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Mechanics or a related field.
• Solid understanding of aircraft design principles.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to work autonomously.

Required skills

• Python programming for data processing and automation.
• Finite Element Modeling (FEM) of structural components.
