Master Thesis: Inlet Device for Combined RCS/IRS Signature Reduction

About the role

Airbus is seeking a motivated master’s student to develop a multi‑functional inlet blocker device aimed at reducing radar cross‑section (RCS) and infrared signature (IRS) for stealth aircraft. The project will be carried out within the Signatures department in Bremen and will span 3‑6 months.

Key responsibilities

• Define technical requirements balancing signature reduction with mechanical and aerodynamic constraints.
• Analyse state‑of‑the‑art designs and material solutions in aerospace.
• Select and evaluate absorbent materials for multi‑layer component design.
• Perform numerical simulations and verify device performance using advanced tools.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to solve multi‑physics problems.
• Proactive work style and good communication skills.
