Master Thesis – Performance Simulation & Optimization of an Air‑Conditioning Pack

About the role

Airbus Operations is seeking a master‑level student to conduct a thesis on the performance simulation and optimisation of an aircraft air‑conditioning pack. The work will support the Air Generation department in developing more efficient, lighter, and lower‑volume cooling systems for future aircraft.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature research on aircraft environmental control and air‑conditioning systems.
• Develop a thermodynamic system model of an air‑conditioning pack.
• Implement and adapt a genetic optimisation algorithm to evaluate performance and weight.
• Define optimisation objectives, compare different pack architectures, and analyse results.
• Document findings and present results to the department.

Required profile

• Full‑time enrolled master student in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamic systems.
• Ability to work independently and communicate results clearly.
