Mechanical Design Engineer – Electronic Devices

About the role

Join Tesla’s Autopilot and Electronics Product Design team as a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on low‑voltage electronics modules. You will lead the mechanical development of infotainment devices, antennas, wireless chargers and electronic control units across the vehicle lineup.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define system architecture and translate it into mechanical implementations.
• Design and model plastic, sheet‑metal and die‑cast components using CATIA.
• Perform structural, tolerance stack‑up, FEA and design‑for‑assembly analyses.
• Create detailed 3D models, technical drawings and documentation.
• Support prototype builds, component fabrication, testing and validation.
• Develop engineering and reliability test plans, analyse test data and troubleshoot issues.
• Communicate with suppliers on DFM feedback and assist tooling development and assembly bring‑up.
• Own designs from concept through mass production.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with CATIA (3DX) preferred.
• Experience with ANSYS or similar FEA tools.
• Hands‑on experience taking designs from concept to mass production.
• Basic understanding of electrical and thermal design fundamentals for electronics packaging.

Required skills

• Finite element analysis (FEA) and structural analysis.
• Design for assembly (DFA) and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
