Multiple Aerospace Professorships at TUM

About the role

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is seeking four senior academics to join the Department of Aerospace and Geodesy. The positions cover a range of research areas and are open at all career levels, from tenure‑track assistant professor to tenured full professor, starting in the winter semester 2027/28.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead independent research programs in the assigned aerospace domain.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses within the bachelor and master curricula.
• Supervise and mentor early‑career scientists, including PhD candidates.
• Foster interdisciplinary collaborations across the department and the wider TUM community.

Required profile

• Outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification.
• Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching at an internationally recognised level.
• Significant research experience abroad.
• Pedagogical aptitude and a commitment to mentoring junior researchers.

Required skills

• Expertise in Quantum Space Technologies (optical).
• Knowledge of payload systems for space missions.
• Experience with space applications and related engineering challenges.
• Background in cybersecurity for aerospace systems.
