Multiple Professorships in Aerospace Engineering

About the role

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is seeking four outstanding scholars to join its Department of Aerospace and Geodesy. The positions, ranging from tenure‑track Assistant Professor (W2) to tenured Associate or Full Professor (W3), will start in the winter semester 2027/28 and focus on cutting‑edge research and teaching in aerospace engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑impact research in one of the designated areas: Quantum Space Technologies (optical), payload systems, space applications, or aerospace cyber‑security.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses within TUM’s bachelor and master programmes.
• Supervise and mentor PhD candidates and early‑career scientists.
• Collaborate with department colleagues and external partners to strengthen interdisciplinary projects.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (or equivalent) with an outstanding research record recognised internationally.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong pedagogical aptitude.
• Significant research experience abroad.
• Eligibility for the German academic career track (W2/W3).

Required skills

• Expertise in one of the target research fields: quantum‑based space technologies, payload system design, space‑application engineering, or aerospace cyber‑security.
