National Consultant – Socio‑Economic Impacts of Extreme Heat (Manila)

About the role

Climate Analytics is seeking a national consultant to support the Manila case‑study of its project on the socio‑economic impacts of extreme heat in the Global South. The short‑term assignment involves on‑the‑ground data collection, stakeholder interviews and contextualising an attribution framework for the Philippines.

Key responsibilities

• Gather qualitative and quantitative data on mortality, morbidity, labour productivity losses and related socio‑economic effects of extreme heat from local sources such as hospitals, employers and policy makers.
• Conduct at least five stakeholder interviews, produce transcripts and summarise findings.
• Review existing heat‑health adaptation policies, programmes and pilot projects in Manila.
• Provide local expertise on social norms and economic context to inform the impact assessment.
• Deliver a living document summarising socio‑economic impacts and a policy landscape review, with final versions due by the end of September 2026.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in socio‑economic impact assessment of climate‑related hazards.
• Familiarity with heat‑related health outcomes and labour market effects, especially in the Philippines.
• Proven ability to engage with local stakeholders and obtain non‑public data.
• Strong background in literature research on climate adaptation measures.
