PhD – AI & AAS Driven Fluid Factory Engineering (f/m/d)

About the role

You will lead research within the Top Management Project for Next‑Gen Fluid System design, developing data‑ and AI‑driven approaches for engineering, tailoring, testing and operating fluid factories.

Key responsibilities

• Create and implement a robust software and AI architecture on a real fluid factory, focusing on Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and AI capabilities.
• Identify industrial pain points in multi‑criteria fluid system design and optimise processes to reduce effort and speed up development.
• Establish the foundation for the first worldwide hydraulic learning factory, fully funded.
• Participate in university‑ and industry‑driven research projects (e.g., Fluid‑AI) and support future international fluid university initiatives.

Required profile

• Above‑average completion of a master’s or diploma in engineering, data science or a comparable field.
• Strong mechanical engineering and fluid‑system knowledge.
• Experience in AI, data science and research, particularly with AAS and AI technologies.
• Work experience in hydraulic branches is desirable.
• Scientific knowledge‑transfer background is a plus.
• Fluent in English; German optional.
