Philosopher – Care Ethics Research (Fixed-term)

About the role

The Institute seeks a philosopher to lead a systematic literature review and develop a care‑ethical framework for mobility systems. The role combines academic research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international partnership, contributing to scholarly debate on transport justice, energy ethics, and related societal challenges.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct a thorough literature review on care ethics and summarize the state of research.
  • Develop a care‑ethical framework addressing mobility, transport justice, and energy ethics.
  • Publish findings in academic journals and present at conferences.
  • Collaborate with the International Research Training Group CL4Land and the University of Melbourne on empirical questions concerning vulnerability, mobility systems, and care.
  • Engage actively in international research collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Required profile

  • Completed Master’s degree in philosophy.
  • Basic knowledge of empirical social research methods.
  • In‑depth knowledge of ethics, preferably care ethics.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Openness to interdisciplinary work and strong reflective abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and present complex academic topics precisely.
  • Interest in international research collaboration and scientific communication.
