Principal CAP & BTP Cloud Native Engineer

About the role

As a Principal CAP & BTP Cloud Native Engineer you will own end‑to‑end backend development for SAP Fioneer’s cloud‑native banking solutions. You will design, build and operate services on SAP Business Technology Platform, applying the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) and modern architectural patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and run CAP services (Node.js or Java) on SAP BTP, including CDS domain models, OData V4 APIs, XSUAA authentication and event‑driven integration via SAP Event Mesh.
• Take technical ownership of scoped modules from concept through production delivery.
• Shape clean, testable architectures using Hexagonal, Domain‑Driven Design and CQRS where appropriate.
• Integrate backend services with S/4HANA, RAP business objects and external APIs via Destination Service and Cloud Connector.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (MTAR builds, Cloud Foundry deployments, trunk‑based development) and ensure proper environment separation.
• Ensure quality through code reviews, automated unit/integration/contract tests and coding guidelines.
• Document architectural decisions as ADRs and share knowledge via pair programming, mentoring and brown‑bag sessions.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Solution Architects to translate business requirements into shippable solutions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years with CAP and SAP BTP.
• Strong command of Node.js or Java, CDS, OData V4 and a solid understanding of Fiori Elements and SAPUI5 from a backend perspective.
• Hands‑on experience with Cloud Foundry, MTAR deployments and core BTP services (XSUAA, Destination, Connectivity, Event Mesh, HANA Cloud).
• Deep knowledge of SAP integration patterns such as RAP, ABAP Cloud, SAP Integration Suite and BTP ABAP Environment.
