Professorship in Operations Research (Campus)

About the role

IU International University is seeking a dedicated professor to lead the Operations Research degree program on its Cologne campus starting October 1, 2026. The position is permanent, part‑time, and focuses on delivering high‑quality, practice‑oriented education to future professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the Operations Research discipline in both teaching and research activities on campus.
• Design, prepare, and deliver face‑to‑face lectures and seminars.
• Supervise students during examinations and guide thesis projects.
• Teach core topics such as Operations Management and Business Mathematics.
• Contribute to the development of innovative teaching formats within IU’s didactic concept.
• Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve curriculum and instructional methods.

Required profile

• Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Operations Research or a closely related field with outstanding academic performance.
• Minimum five years of professional experience, including at least three years outside academia.
• Demonstrated research or project experience through publications or completed projects.
• Experience in university teaching is desirable.
• Strong team orientation, reliability, and commitment to in‑person teaching while being proficient in virtual delivery.
• Permanent residence in Germany.
• English language proficiency at CEFR level C1.
