Programme Management Officer – Mental Health

About the role

The Programme Management Officer (Mental Health) will support the implementation of the UN System Workplace Mental Health and Well‑being Strategy. Based in the Office of Human Resources in Bonn, the role reports to the Senior Programme Officer and contributes to the sustainable transition of the strategy’s global coordination function.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise for developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects under the Mental Health Strategy, including data analysis and reporting.
• Research, analyse and present information from the Mental Health Strategy Scorecard and coordinate data collection.
• Prepare written outputs such as reports for the High‑Level Committee on Management and the Human Resources Network, covering implementation progress, risks and sustainability.
• Support consultative meetings and outreach activities, including training workshops, seminars and presentations.
• Coordinate budget and funding activities, prepare programme documents and financial statements.
• Assist in transition planning by mapping core functions, documenting processes, and embedding coordination within long‑term UN structures.
• Maintain the Strategy website and knowledge repositories, disseminating good practices and tools.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in a mental‑health‑relevant discipline, public health, occupational health, human resources, management or a related field.
• Professional competence in mental‑health data collection, analysis, promotion and prevention, with strong analytical and evaluative skills.
• Ability to plan, organise and manage competing priorities, ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
• Client‑oriented mindset with experience in building productive partnerships and communicating progress to stakeholders.
