Project Manager – Bridge Construction

About the role

SSA Group is partnering with a leading European civil‑construction contractor to deliver a multi‑project bridge programme in the Berlin region. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to take full responsibility for one of three live bridge schemes valued between €25 million and €65 million.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the complete project lifecycle from mobilisation through handover.
• Own programme, budget, quality and safety outcomes.
• Manage subcontractor packages, procurement schedules and key milestones.
• Coordinate with the client, German public authorities, design consultants and consortium partners.
• Drive variation management, change control and risk mitigation.
• Prepare progress reports, forecasts and stakeholder communications.
• Ensure compliance with VOB, HOAI, Eurocodes and DIN technical standards.
• Oversee temporary works, demolition and traffic‑management interfaces.
• Mentor and develop the on‑site engineering team.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Project Manager or senior Construction Manager on bridge or major civil projects (€20 million+).
• Proven track record delivering bridge schemes in the €20 million‑plus range.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent professional qualification.
• German language at B2 level or higher (mandatory); English is an advantage.
• EU nationality, EU Blue Card holder or permanent resident with the right to work in Germany.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of VOB, HOAI and German construction standards.
• Familiarity with Eurocodes and DIN technical standards.
• German language proficiency (B2+).
• English language proficiency (advantage).
• Civil Engineering qualification.
