Public Affairs Manager – R&T & Digital Policy

About the role

Airbus is looking for an experienced Public Affairs Manager to lead research & technology (R&T) and digital policy initiatives in Germany. Reporting to the Head of Public Affairs Germany, Commercial Aircraft, you will shape Airbus’s political narrative and secure public funding for high‑tech projects.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and align Airbus’s R&T and digital policy positions with German federal and Länder authorities.
• Identify, apply for and manage public funding programmes (e.g., BMWE, BMFTR, BMV) for research and technology projects.
• Lead lobbying activities on EU and German digital legislation such as the AI Act, EUCS and NIS2, coordinating with the Brussels office.
• Support the commercial public affairs strategy for Airbus Commercial Aircraft, providing tailored messages for German administrations.
• Prepare executive briefings, speeches and strategic papers for senior leadership and the German Management Board.
• Represent Airbus in industry associations (BDLI, BDI, Bitkom, Acatech) and research institutions (DLR, FhG), and host political delegations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in public affairs, government relations or lobbying within the aerospace or high‑tech sector.
• Strong understanding of German and EU research, technology and digital policy frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills in German and English, with the ability to produce high‑level briefing materials.
• University degree in political science, law, economics or a related field.
