Regional Finance Director

About the role

The Regional Finance Director will be based in Germany and will lead financial strategy, oversight and operational excellence across a complex international portfolio. This senior position combines global financial leadership with hands‑on support for multi‑country, donor‑funded programmes and strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and governance for regional finance teams, ensuring alignment with organisational policies and donor requirements.
• Monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation strategies.
• Oversee accounting functions, ensuring effective controls, accurate reporting, timely reconciliations and compliance with financial standards.
• Support country teams with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and analysis to optimise resource allocation.
• Review audit findings, drive corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Guide proposal development, cost analysis and financial aspects of business development activities.
• Partner with senior leadership to deliver financial insights, risk analysis and strategic recommendations.
• Lead recruitment, coaching, mentoring and capacity‑building for the regional finance team.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior finance roles within international, multi‑country environments.
• Proven track record of managing donor‑funded programmes and complex funding structures.
• Strong knowledge of financial governance, compliance and reporting standards.
• Ability to translate financial data into strategic decision‑making support for senior leaders.
• Demonstrated leadership in talent development and team performance improvement.
