Research scientist – HPC, AI and training

About the role

The High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) seeks a research scientist to strengthen its training concept within the bwHPC‑S5 project and to contribute to the EU GreenShift master programme. The role combines curriculum design, delivery of advanced training, and autonomous research in high‑performance computing and artificial intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the training work package of the bwHPC‑S5 project, aligning with Baden‑Württemberg’s strategic goals.
• Design and deliver the online EU Master’s programme in AI & HPC for Green Digital Innovation in Transport.
• Organise complementary workshops, lectures and networking events for the master’s programme.
• Develop training resources for lecturers to ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery.
• Promote the GreenShift project to industry, SMEs and transport stakeholders.
• Conduct independent research in HPC and AI, publishing results and advancing HLRS’s scientific portfolio.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent experience in computer science, engineering or a related field.
• Proven expertise in high‑performance computing and artificial intelligence.
• Experience designing and delivering advanced technical training or academic curricula.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with academic, industrial and public‑sector partners.
