Research Scientist Intern (PhD) – AI Foundations

About the role

You'll join Prior Labs' research team in Berlin and work hands‑on on a brand‑new class of AI models that combine text and tabular data. The internship offers the chance to tackle open research problems in scaling transformers, multimodal learning, time‑series forecasting and causal understanding.

Key responsibilities

• Scale transformer architectures from 10K to over 1M samples while preserving performance.
• Build multimodal models that integrate text and proprietary tabular data.
• Develop specialized architectures for time‑series forecasting and anomaly detection.
• Create efficient inference methods suitable for production deployment.
• Research causal understanding in foundation models and design approaches for handling multiple related tables.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing or holding a PhD (or exceptional Master’s) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Strong publication record at top‑tier venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) or significant open‑source contributions.

Required skills

• Proficient Python programming.
• Experience with PyTorch and scikit‑learn.
• Data‑science background working with tabular data and time‑series.
