Senior Construction Site Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to lead the civil works for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Jänschwalde, Germany. The role is site‑based and involves close collaboration with the EPC contractor, subcontractors, client representatives and the project management team to deliver the project safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all civil engineering activities for the BESS project.
• Lead groundwork preparation, excavation, digging, grading, levelling, trenching and foundation works.
• Oversee drainage systems, access roads, hard‑standing and underground utility installations.
• Ensure compliance with German HSE regulations, construction standards and project quality requirements.
• Coordinate civil contractors and subcontractors, monitor progress and mitigate risks.
• Review civil drawings, method statements and construction documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, quality checks and maintain accurate records.
• Secure permits, inspections and approvals before work commences.
• Support commissioning and project hand‑over by completing civil punch‑list items.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience delivering civil works on industrial, infrastructure, utilities, renewable energy or power projects.
• Proven experience in groundwork, earthworks, excavation, trenching, reinforced‑concrete foundations, drainage, access‑road construction and underground utilities.
• Experience on BESS, substations or major renewable‑energy projects is highly desirable.
• Fluent German with the ability to communicate effectively with local contractors and authorities.
