Senior Consultant Pharmacist – Mental Health (Part‑time)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a senior consultant‑level pharmacist to lead mental health pharmacy services across primary and secondary care. This part‑time, permanent role combines expert clinical care with strategic leadership, education and research to improve outcomes for patients with complex mental health needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical care to patients with complex mental health conditions, including independent prescribing.
• Lead the strategic development and integration of mental health pharmacy services across NHS GGC.
• Act as senior pharmacy advisor to clinicians, managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Contribute to regional and national mental health and pharmacy programmes.
• Drive service innovation, quality improvement, audit and research initiatives.
• Provide leadership, supervision and mentorship for advanced and consultant‑level pharmacists.
• Support education and workforce development in partnership with universities and professional bodies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent) and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Qualified Independent Prescriber.
• Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Mental Health Pharmacy (or equivalent).
• Consultant‑level practice, RPS credentialed or significant progress towards it.
• Extensive experience in mental health pharmacy and strategic service development.
• Strong leadership, communication and influencing abilities.
