Senior Controller

About the role

Yazio is seeking a Senior Controller to own and continuously improve its controlling function as the company scales. You will be responsible for the end‑to‑end monthly close, accounting operations and internal controls, shaping the finance function for years to come.

Key responsibilities

• Build, own and drive the monthly close process, delivering fast, accurate financial reporting.
• Review and sign off accruals, cut‑off entries, reconciliations and reporting packages for Management and FP&A.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for technical accounting questions, supporting new business models and complex treatments.
• Develop and maintain technical accounting documentation (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, capitalization).
• Manage external partners such as accountants, tax advisors and auditors.
• Strengthen internal controls by identifying anomalies and improving control effectiveness.
• Drive process and system improvements, leveraging AI tools for analysis, variance explanations and audit preparation.

Required profile

• Several years of hands‑on experience in Accounting, Controlling or Financial Reporting, preferably in fast‑scaling environments.
• Proven ownership of the full monthly close cycle with high‑quality reporting.
• Strong internal‑controls mindset and ability to design and improve processes.
• In‑depth knowledge of German HGB; exposure to IFRS is a plus.
• Experience leading or coordinating a small accounting team is advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced DATEV proficiency.
• Strong competence with accounting systems and financial data.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted analysis tools.
• Knowledge of German HGB accounting standards.
• Understanding of IFRS principles.
