Senior Data Center Technician – Hamburg

About the role

Verda is building a European AI cloud powered by 100% renewable energy. The Hamburg site needs a senior technician who knows every aspect of the data centre – from cooling and power to hardware dependencies and risks. You will lead day‑to‑day operations and act as the technical point of contact when the site manager is unavailable.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain servers, storage systems, networking equipment and other data‑center hardware.
• Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, power) and respond to alerts.
• Ensure 24/7 uptime, participate in on‑call rotation and handle incident response.
• Lead or contribute to build‑outs, migrations, refresh projects and the opening of new data halls.
• Plan and schedule machine installations and future upgrades as power capacity expands.
• Collaborate with remote‑hands teams, network engineers, system administrators, the Site Manager and Head of DC Operations.
• Mentor junior technicians and support hiring as the on‑site team grows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive data‑center or IT‑infrastructure experience.
• Hands‑on experience with server, storage and networking hardware.
