Senior KYC Officer – Financial Crime Investigation Specialist

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established financial services organisation to hire a Senior KYC Officer who will take a proactive, investigative approach to financial crime risk. The role combines deep client due‑diligence expertise with analytical skills to protect the business from money‑laundering and sanction‑related threats.

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed client due‑diligence reviews, including complex and escalated cases requiring enhanced scrutiny.
• Conduct in‑depth analysis of high‑risk profiles and intricate ownership structures.
• Interpret transactional activity to detect irregularities, unusual behaviour, and potential financial‑crime indicators.
• Identify emerging typologies, trends, and risks within the financial‑crime landscape.
• Produce clear case assessments and risk summaries for internal stakeholders.
• Document investigative activity in line with regulatory expectations.
• Collaborate with compliance, legal, and operational teams to resolve queries and strengthen controls.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives, including process optimisation and regulatory readiness.

Required profile

• Academic background in finance, law, economics or business.
• Proven experience in client due‑diligence, financial‑crime compliance or investigative roles within regulated environments.
• Strong understanding of financial‑crime frameworks, sanctions regimes and laundering typologies.
• Working knowledge of European regulatory standards and best practices.
• Ability to assess layered corporate structures and identify underlying risk exposure.
• Inquisitive mindset with confidence to challenge assumptions and escalate concerns.
• Excellent analytical capabilities with high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Fluency in German and English, both written and verbal.
