Senior Manager Cyber Defence (SOC)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Manager Cyber Defence to lead our Security Operations Centre (SOC) across Germany. This senior leadership position combines technical direction, team management, and client‑facing advisory work to keep the organisation ahead of evolving cyber threats.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage day‑to‑day SOC operations, ensuring proactive threat detection and rapid response.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve SOC strategies, policies, and governance frameworks.
• Oversee incident response processes, driving swift containment, remediation and post‑incident analysis.
• Provide technical leadership in threat intelligence, vulnerability management and security analytics.
• Assess the organisation’s cybersecurity posture and recommend enhancements.
• Drive automation and orchestration initiatives to increase SOC efficiency.
• Monitor emerging threats, attack techniques and industry best practices.
• Mentor, coach and develop a team of security analysts, engineers and incident responders.
• Collaborate with IT, compliance, risk management and other cross‑functional teams.

Required profile

• University degree (BSc or MSc) in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years leading SOC operations or incident response teams.
• Fluent in German and English.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA or GIAC are highly desirable.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with SIEM, EDR and SOAR platforms.
• Proficiency with threat‑intelligence platforms.
• Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Controls).
• Forensic analysis, malware analysis and penetration testing capabilities.
