Simulation Software Engineer – Virtual Reality (XR)

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is expanding its Virtual Reality @ Simulation team and is looking for a Simulation Software Engineer specialised in Virtual Reality (XR). Based in Manching, Germany, you will create and maintain immersive XR applications that support training and development simulators for aerospace missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain VR software for simulation applications.
• Integrate simulation models and XR hardware into VR solutions.
• Test, validate and verify VR simulation software and components.
• Analyse reported issues, implement fixes and support simulator operations.
• Document software modules following company processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Games Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum three years of professional experience developing VR or game‑engine software.
• Proactive, team‑oriented mindset with good English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel within the EU.

Required skills

• Object‑oriented programming in C#, C++ and scripting with Bash or Python.
• Experience with Unity, Unreal Engine or other rendering engines.
• Familiarity with 3D modelling toolchains such as Blender, Maya or SketchUp.
• Knowledge of shader technologies (HLSL, ShaderGraph).
• Use of Atlassian tool stack (Jira, Confluence) and Agile development practices.
