Software Development Engineer Internship – Embedded Development

About the role

Join Amazon as a Software Development Engineer (SDE) intern focused on embedded development. You will work on real customer‑facing problems, building scalable services that impact millions of users worldwide. This full‑time, on‑site internship offers hands‑on ownership of the entire software lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to design, build, and operate innovative embedded products.
• Develop scalable, cloud‑native solutions using microservices in a large distributed environment.
• Participate in code reviews, write clean, maintainable code, and contribute to technical documentation.
• Build resilient, fault‑tolerant systems that are cost‑effective and performant.
• Leverage GenAI and AI‑powered tools to boost development productivity.
• Practice CI/CD principles and take part in operational duties, including on‑call rotations and monitoring.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a degree program with at least one academic term remaining after the internship.
• Strong curiosity, ownership mindset, and ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with experienced engineers.

Required skills

• Experience with cloud‑native architectures and microservices.
• Understanding of distributed systems design and fault tolerance.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and operational monitoring.
• Exposure to AI‑powered development tools (e.g., GenAI).
