Software Development Engineer

About the role

Join Adobe's Cloud Platform & Collaboration team in Hamburg and help build the backend services that power Photoshop, Firefly, Express, and Document Cloud. You will work on high‑traffic, latency‑sensitive systems that are critical to Adobe’s creative workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Solve engineering challenges related to latency, throughput, consistency, data durability, and storage cost.
• Own components of the platform end‑to‑end, from design through production rollout.
• Shape technical direction through design reviews, prototypes, and constructive debate.
• Apply modern development practices and AI‑assisted tooling to maintain a tight iteration loop and high quality.
• Participate in incident response and drive post‑mortem fixes.
• Collaborate with partner teams across Hamburg, the United States, and India.

Required profile

• Several years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production systems.
• Strong curiosity and a habit of digging deep to find root causes.
• Team‑player who gives and receives direct feedback.
• Excellent communication in both German and English.

Required skills

• Java programming language.
• Spring framework.
• Experience with major cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and RESTful APIs.
• Hands‑on work with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra or DynamoDB.
• Familiarity with message queues.
• Observability tooling experience (e.g., Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus).
• Exposure to AI‑assisted development workflows (e.g., Claude Code).
