Software Engineer – Ad Platform

About the role

Join Zalando Marketing Services as a Software Engineer on the Ad Platform team. You will build and maintain the core infrastructure that powers a high‑traffic advertising marketplace serving millions of customers across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, resilient services that handle up to 4,000 requests per second with strict latency targets (p99 ≤ 25 ms).
• Process massive volumes of user‑interaction events in near real‑time and manage hundreds of terabytes of data.
• Develop advanced experimentation capabilities for a two‑sided marketplace, directly influencing partner campaign performance and company revenue.
• Break down large epics into actionable tasks, own the full delivery lifecycle from refinement to production deployment.
• Maintain high engineering standards by writing clean, testable, and maintainable code.

Required profile

• Proven experience building high‑performance, low‑latency systems at scale.
• Strong problem‑solving skills for complex technical challenges in a fast‑moving e‑commerce environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional team and take ownership of features from concept to operation.
