Software Engineer Golang (Backend Integration)

About the role

Fleetlery, a Hamburg-based delivery-as-a-service company operating a nationwide German courier network, is looking for a Backend Engineer to build the integration infrastructure of its logistics platform. The role is fully remote, 100% remote, and focuses on designing and implementing the middleware that lets operational systems communicate reliably with internal and external services. It suits someone who likes hands-on engineering with high technical ownership.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build a robust, extensible middleware layer that intercepts, transforms and routes requests between internal systems and external APIs.
• Develop and maintain integrations between the operational platform and third-party logistics and delivery tools.
• Build webhook infrastructure with retry logic, reliable error handling and idempotency.
• Implement request and response logging across all integration points for traceability and debugging.
• Keep the integration layer maintainable and extensible so new connections can be added easily.
• Translate business workflows into technical specifications and working implementations.
• Document architecture, APIs and integration logic to help future engineers onboard quickly.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Proven experience building middleware, API gateways or integration layers between systems.
• Comfortable working independently and making architecture decisions with minimal supervision.
• Strong written English for asynchronous communication in a remote-first team.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in Golang.
• Solid experience with REST APIs and webhook-based integrations.
• Good understanding of authentication patterns such as OAuth, API keys and token management.
• Strong grasp of error handling, retry strategies, idempotency and fault tolerance in distributed systems.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Nice to have: logistics or operational SaaS experience, workflow automation tools like Make.com, RabbitMQ or Redis, and experience with poorly documented third-party APIs.
