Software Engineer II

About the role

Zendesk is building advanced AI agents for customer experience and needs a Fullstack Engineer to create the testing and validation platform that ensures those agents are reliable and high‑quality. The role leans toward backend development while still offering opportunities to build user‑facing tools.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement APIs, event‑driven services, and data workflows that power synthetic testing and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop and maintain internal tools and dashboards for quality validation of AI agents.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, data engineers, analysts, and other developers to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Write clean, modular, and well‑tested code, emphasizing maintainability and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, testing strategies, and system reliability initiatives.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building modern web applications.
• Product‑mindset with a focus on user experience and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
• Proactive attitude toward learning and sharing knowledge.

Required skills

• TypeScript, React, Node.js
• REST API design and integration
• AWS services and CI/CD pipelines (preferred)
• Microservice architecture, event‑driven systems
• Relational and NoSQL database design
• Python for backend or automation tasks (optional)
• Familiarity with AI developer assistants such as Cursor or Claude Code (optional)
