Structural Design Engineer – Aerospace Wing Design (Hamburg)

About the role

We are looking for a Structural Design Engineer to join an aerospace wing design organisation in Hamburg. The role provides comprehensive engineering support for wing structures, including in‑service repair support for the A400M and the management of modification processes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide wing engineering support within the overall Wing Design Organisation (IAW).
• Deliver reactive support for A400M daily in‑service repairs, ensuring compliance with Design Organisation Approval (DOA) and export‑control regulations.
• Manage modification processes through Decision Gates, including Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
• Collaborate with offshore engineering teams to ensure clear technical communication and timely delivery.
• Lead structural design and development of primary wing components, reviewing 3D models, 2D drawings and Bills of Material.
• Drive issue resolution across stress, manufacturing, quality and configuration management teams.
• Prepare and present design reviews (PDR, CDR, DFM) and ensure adherence to DMU, PLM and configuration control processes.
• Support digital continuity initiatives and continuous improvement of design and communication processes.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience in aerospace structural design.
• Proven experience on aircraft programmes such as A320, A330, A350, A380 or A400M.
• Bi‑lingual German and English.
• Valid work authorization for Germany (no employer sponsorship required).
• Valid training certificates in VPM and PASS SSI.
• Aeroplane Design Signatory (checker/approver) experience.
• Experience with DMU reviews, Interface Point Management and multi‑partner environments.
