Surface Technology Internship – Paints & Coatings

About the role

In order to support the Engineering Surface Technology team, Airbus Operations GmbH is looking for a student interested in an internship. As a member of research projects developing the latest paint technologies, you will join a highly motivated team of professionals working on sustainable, next‑generation paint systems.

Key responsibilities

• Support the overall research and development of a sustainable, next‑generation paint system.
• Develop EHS‑compliant primer and paint systems.
• Research inhibition concepts for paint systems and assess their impact on corrosion protection.
• Define test programs, execute testing, and prepare technical reports to evaluate product proposals.
• Conduct analytical investigations of the physical and chemical properties of various coatings.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Paint Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong passion for surface technology, corrosion, paints and coatings.
• Prior experience in analytical evaluation and corrosion assessment of organic coatings is a plus.
• Negotiation‑level proficiency in English.
