System Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced IT Systems Engineer to join the infrastructure team of a leading international organisation that operates critical infrastructure across Europe. The role combines hands‑on engineering across networking, Windows services, virtualization and disaster‑recovery, supporting the company’s expanding data‑centre footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure and optimise enterprise network infrastructure and firewalls.
• Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Exchange services.
• Support and maintain VMware (or comparable) virtualised environments.
• Implement and manage backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Monitor systems, provide second‑line support and contribute to infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external technology partners.

Required profile

• Strong networking background (VLANs, routing, ACLs, VPNs).
• Experience with firewall platforms such as Cisco or Fortinet.
• Proficiency in Windows Server administration.
• Hands‑on experience with VMware or equivalent virtualization platforms.
• Knowledge of enterprise backup tools (Veeam, Dell EMC Networker or similar).
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Desirable experience with VMware SRM, Veeam DR, Ruckus, Extreme Networks or FortiGate.
