System Safety Engineer – Aircraft Development

About the role

Join the Aircraft Development Safety team in Manching to ensure Airbus products meet the highest safety standards throughout their lifecycle. You will evaluate complex aircraft functions, analyse malfunction propagation, and consider human‑factor impacts to maintain airworthiness.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and conduct Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) and System Safety Assessments (SSA) for aircraft and systems up to certification.
• Perform risk analyses in line with applicable guidance and standards to support continuous aircraft development.
• Execute Common‑Cause Analyses, including Particular Risk Analysis, Zonal Safety Analysis and Common Mode Analysis.
• Generate safety requirements, evidence (tests, simulations, analyses), safety procedures and limitations.
• Interface with technical domains such as processes, maintenance, human factors, performance and quality.
• Influence aircraft and system architecture based on safety and integrity requirements.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Chief Engineering, Project Management, design teams and airworthiness authorities.

Required profile

• Strong interest and ability to assess complex aircraft functions and system interactions.
• Experience analysing mechanical, electrical/electronic malfunctions and unintended human actions.
• Understanding of airworthiness regulations and safety lifecycle management.

Required skills

• Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and System Safety Assessment (SSA).
• Risk analysis methodologies.
• Common‑Cause Analysis techniques (Particular Risk, Zonal Safety, Common Mode).
• Safety requirement definition and evidence generation.
